Cuckoo Quarterly

Here at Cuckoo we don’t just do journalism. For aspiring young poets, scriptwriters, essayists and fiction writers, we also run Cuckoo Quarterly, our online literary magazine written and edited by young people aged between 12-19.

Cuckoo Quarterly provides a platform for the best writing by young authors from the UK and beyond. It has a large and ever-expanding worldwide readership. You can read all of our issues at .

We’re looking for submissions of poetry, periodicals, short stories, essays and opinion pieces. Each issue also has a themed section and a series of regular features, as well as accepting general writing submissions. Full submission guidelines and deadlines can be found at .

To submit, email your work and a two-sentence biography to .

Cuckoo Quarterly is also led by an editorial committee of ten young people: they read all the submissions, and edit and control the magazine’s editorial policy. If you’d like to get involved behind the scenes at Cuckoo Quarterly, we’re always keen to hear from young people interested in section editing, design, marketing and web management. No experience is necessary and meetings take place regularly in Newcastle upon Tyne. Email for more information.
